Has anyone ever tried to roller blade or roller skate on ice?
I didn't have any ice skates so I was thinking about it.
It's really not going to happen.
Ice skates gain traction by cutting the ice with the blade edge, providing the skater with something to push off on one skate, and glide along a controlled path on the other.
Inline and roller skates use the wheel footprint (contact area) and shape to provide traction on a suitable surface to push off, and roll on.
The ice is simply too low-friction a surface for roller blades or roller skates to gain traction on. Skating would be hard, your efforts frustratingly 'feathered' so you didn't slip a lot, and if you were to gain some speed - controlling a turn would be very, very difficult.
